FOMO PRESENTS NEW HANDI-FOAM® AIR SEAL TO STOP AIR INFILTRATION AND IMPROVE ENERGY EFFICIENCY
NORTON, Ohio – August 25, 2008 – Fomo Products, a leader in one and two-component polyurethane foam sealant systems, introduces Handi-Foam® Air Seal, designed specifically to stop air infiltration and improve energy efficiency by creating a tighter building envelope in commercial and residential buildings.
The new spray foam air sealant is used to coat and cover seams and small holes in the perimeter of stud wall cavities, enhancing primary insulation. When used in conjunction with traditional insulation, such as cellulose and fiberglass, Handi-Foam Air Seal creates a stronger envelope for homes and other buildings. In addition to the Handi-Foam Spray Foam product line, Handi-Foam Air Seal is also ideal for sealing seams between oriented strand boards (OSB).
“Because this product’s expansion is minimized, it fits perfectly behind traditional insulation, including fiberglass. When used properly, Air Seal is sprayed out in a bead form to allow fiberglass to fit behind it without crushing the batt into the cavity and losing R-value,” said Sara Jonas, marketing manager at Fomo Products, Inc.. “Handi-Foam Air Seal and general insulation work together to improve energy efficiency; saving costs. The two-component Handi-Foam Air Seal is a cost effective way to improve traditional insulation, which is not always an option for smaller, hard-to-reach applications. The closed cell formula is more economical than full foam insulation and provides the same air-stopping benefits. The portability and convenience of Handi-Foam Air Seal allows contractors to seal building areas that are often missed or overlooked, helping to prevent air movement.
The sealant is applied at a low expansion rate with the patented Handi-Gun® Dispensing Unit making Air Seal application fast and easy. Lower expansion leads to greater coverage and increased control, which lead to lower cost per job. The disposable unit includes the Handi-Gun for full service with no additional tools necessary.
Like Fomo’s other two-component spray foam insulators, Air Seal produces a high yield and depending on kit size, could yield up to 37,700 lineal feet. Additionally, Handi-Foam Air Seal cures completely tack-free in 30 to 45 seconds for added job application speed.
